West Virginia resident Christian Edward Cooker, 38, is facing DUI and other charges in Maryland following a crash involving a marked sheriff’s office vehicle and several others, according to the agency.
Deputies didn’t have to go far at approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, when they were called to the Washington County Sheriff-Judicial Division Courthouse, where there was a reported crash involving multiple vehicles.
Investigators say that Cooker was driving a Chevrolet truck northbound on Summit Avenue when he struck a parked Washington County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, the impact of which pushed it into two other parked cars that were unoccupied.
The patrol vehicle “suffered significant damage,” according to the sheriff's office.
A search at the scene of the crash found that Cooker was in possession of approximately 270 suspected pills, though the sheriff’s office has not disclosed the nature of the narcotics.
Cooker was charged with:
- DUI;
- Possession/use of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS);
- CDS: sale/manufacturing-related offenses.
Cooker is being held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center. No return court date has been announced by the sheriff’s office.
